Spoiler Free Review Cyberpunk Edgerunners

It should be no surprise that the latest anime hit to take the scene by storm, is Cyberpunk Edgerunners, an animated Netflix feature based on the game Cyberpunk 2077.

At first, I’d put off watching this anime as I was sceptical about whether I would enjoy it or not since I haven’t dived that much into the cyberpunk theme or genre in my own art and design. That has changed since I watched the Cyberpunk Edgerunners series.

This story hooked me in episode one, it hit all the right notes for good story development and characters were introduced like you would mix your ingredients for a perfect cake, everything was balanced and paced in such a way that I connected with each character on some level.

My favourite character, unsurprisingly, is Lucy, followed closely by David being my second favourite. These two characters resonated with me on a scale that I never thought I would encounter since I finished watching Sword Art Online and fell in love with the dynamic between Kirito and Asuna and the dynamic between Gojo and Marin in My Dress Up Darling.

The creators of this series for me, stayed true to the themes and arcs, from the lows in the beginning to the highs of the plateaus and through to the end, they kept me waiting to see what happens next.

I am thrilled that I watched this series instead of starting another anime show and that I walked away from this series with a hollow feeling, wondering how I could have enjoyed this show so much and am now feeling like I should play the game to get my Cyberpunk fix.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners is now streaming on Netflix and you can stream the series by logging in to your account.

Bravo to each and everyone who worked on this series, I hope to see more of this coming from your studios and from the imaginations of the artists who bring these wonderful masterpieces to life.
